Because/so/because of 用法

1.連接詞so後面接「表示結果」的子句。基本句型：原因句, so＋結果句.

2.使用so當連接詞，so只能放句中，不能放句首，且so前面須有逗點與原因子句隔開。

She was sick, so she didn’t go to school today.（她生病，所以今天沒有去上學）

I got up late, so I didn’t catch the bus. 我晚起，所以我沒搭到公車。

because與so使用差異

1. because 與so這兩個連接詞，都用在「因果關係」的句子上，因此同樣意思的句子，可以分別用because與so表示。

2. Because 可至於字首或句中，至於句首須大寫，句子分開需用,隔開。句中則使用because 直接連接子句。

Because 原因, 結果句.= 結果句+ because +原因句.

Because I didn’t prepare for the test well, I failed the test.

= I failed the test because I didn’t prepare for the test well.

= I didn’t prepare for the test well, so I failed the test.

（我沒有準備好考試，所以考不及格。）

3.雖然中文有「因為…所以…」的句型，但在英文中，because 和so不得用於同一個句子中。

（正）I didn’t do my homework, so my teacher was angry.我沒做作業，所以老師很生氣。

（正）Because I didn’t do my homework, my teacher was angry.

（誤）Because I didn’t do my homework, so my teacher was angry.

because引導表「原因」的子句，放句中時與前面句子間不須加逗號；放句首時，則須以逗號隔開。

She ran to school because she was late.＝ Because she was late, she ran to school.

so引導表「結果」的子句，一般放句中，且須以逗號與前面句子隔開。She was late, so she ran to school.（她遲到了，所以她跑去學校。）

Because和so互換

Because＋原因句, 結果句.

＝結果句＋because＋原因句.

＝原因句, so結果句.

Because Ivy didn’t give up, she finally won.

=Ivy finally won because she didn’t give up.

=Ivy didn’t give up, so she finally won.

(因為Ivy沒有放棄，所以最終她贏了。)

Because of N 用法

Because of＋原因, 結果句.=結果句＋because of＋原因.

because of 中，of為介係詞，因此後面接的是名詞或受詞。

Because of the rain, we can’t go camping today. 因為下雨我們今天不露營。

= We can’t go camping today because of the rain.

because of 中，of為介係詞，因此後面接的是名詞或受詞。

Because of you, we missed the plane.=We missed the plane because of you.

因為妳我們錯過了飛機。

because of 與Because的差別在於，because of 為介係詞片語後接名詞或受詞，because 為連接詞需接兩個完整的子句(有主詞有動詞)。

2.Due to the accident, the singer couldn’t show up.由於意外事件，那位歌手無法出席了。

3.Owing to the traffic jam, I can’t go to the meeting on time. 由於塞車，我無法準時出席會議。

=I can’t go to the meeting on time owning to the traffic jam.

= I can’t go to the meeting on time because of the traffic jam.  

4.He successed by virtue of his efforts. 他憑藉著他的努力成功。
